How Tolra reads an MRO catalog
Most MRO catalogs grew over years. Titles mix series numbers, sizes and grades, the maker’s number sits in a metafield or the description, and nobody has time to rewrite 20,000 products.
Tolra works with that. When your products are copied in, each one gets:
- Its part numbers in one normalized form.
6207-2RS, 6207 2RS and 62072RS are the same code. SKUs, variant SKUs, maker numbers and OEM numbers all count.
- Its sizes as measurements.
35x72x17 mm is stored as one size, and also as each part of it, so a search for 35x72x17 or bearing 72mm can find it.
- The words of the title, type, vendor and tags, with typo tolerance and the synonyms you add.
At search time the query is read the same way. An exact part number match always ranks first. Everything else is ranked by how well it matches.
Setting it up
- Install Tolra and let it copy your products. A full sync runs in the background; new and changed products follow automatically.
- Turn on the search box in your theme (an app embed, no theme code) and add the results page block.
- Search your own top sellers by number and by size. If a code does not match, add it as another part number (Growth plan and up) or a synonym.
- On AI plans (Growth and up), review the suggested filter values in batches. Only approved values become filters.
What it does not do
Tolra does not invent data. If a size or a compatible model is not written anywhere in the product, it cannot be searched. The search report shows which searches found nothing, so you can see what is missing.
